Projects On The Horizon

Specifically these are vacation books show casing the stories and pictures from some of my travels for an event where we were asked to share our passions.  Whether it's a special occasion like a wedding or vacation or senior year or maybe the family reunion. This is a great conversation piece or a way to share your memories with others, rather than just leaving them all on the computer or in a box in the closet.  It makes it easy to bring out when celebrating someone too, not just in their celebration of life, but during this life, such as milestone birthdays.

This is a project I am currently working on, getting ready for my daughter's graduation, in 3 years!  Ok so not to scare you, but I will tell you the longer you hold off on getting things organization, the longer it takes.  Maybe start with getting together photos from a special event or moment in your life, not an entire life.  It can be overwhelming, but that is also where I come in and I can help as little or as much as you like.  Life gets busy and you end up with something similar what I have here.  I'm sure this is a familiar scenario for many; boxes, bins or suitcases of pictures, kids artwork, etc.  My best advice if you have everything just tossed in a tub from many years, like I have here; begin by sorting it by doing the following:

1. sort everything into chunks of time, this is for my daughter who is still in high school so:

• Birth to primary/elementary school

• Primary/elementary school

• Middle School or Junior High (I say a book all by itself for this one, it may not be a big one, but definite changes happen here)

• High School

From there, look through everything and keep only what is compelling or memorable and get rid of duplicates (or maybe you pictures of close friends who might enjoy certain ones)  You can do this sorting exercise either with physical pictures or go through your digital files. 

If you are looking to go beyond high school years or if that wasn't really a thing for your kids then focus on breaking it down into life milestones, maybe the 1st, 5th, golden birthday, 15th or 16th birthday, 18th birthday, 21st birthday, etc.  Or if they were big into something doing a focus book on their football years or dance years, etc. You get the idea. Once you are all caught up it would be easier to focus on specific life events.  And don't forget you can make a quilt out of those old uniforms or favorite tees, etc. that you can send off with them to college or their first home.

I am working on a project in which I am taking a folder of short stories, poems and journal entries from over the years of Michael Myers, also known to friends and family as Sundance who is now 75 years old and is trying to remember what makes him happy.  I am submitting poem entries for publication on his behalf and compiling a book of writings so he can revisit the memories and share them with his family.
